The 50th anniversary of George S. Cobb Jr.’s affiliation with Coca-Cola was cause for much celebration in 1980 as the national Coca-Cola Company honored him, along with his wife and family members, with a special dinner at Atlanta’s Capital City Club.
In 1982, the Newcomen Society of North America paid tribute with a dinner honoring the Cobb family for faithful stewardship and enlightened corporate citizenship at the Piedmont Driving Club in Atlanta.
Tributary to a Golden Stream, an account of the Cobb family and its role in Coca-Cola, was written by Dr. Waights G. Henry Jr., Chancellor of LaGrange College, who also delivered the address at the Newcomen affair.
By the time of his 50th anniversary, Mr. Cobb was Chairman of the Board of the West Point and LaGrange bottling plants, as well as Vend-All and Coffee Service companies. He was a Past President of the Georgia Bottlers Association and had served on the Board of Governors of the national Coca-Cola Bottlers Association. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the George S. and Edna L. Cobb Foundation.
